David Edwin Lytle was born on February 21, 1968 at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, OH.  David grew up in the rural Ohio county of Medina, graduated from Buckeye High School in 1986, and attained an Associates Degree from ATI in Wooster.

In 1992, after relocating to Georgia, David was involved in an automobile accident that severely injured his spinal cord, leaving him a quadriplegic and confined to a wheelchair for the next 15 years.  After enduring approximately 4 months of physical therapy at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta to regain a small portion of his motor skills,  David returned home to Northeast Ohio.

David never viewed his injury as a disability and never let it keep him from living a fulfilling life.  Obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in 1998 from Kent State University, David began a career at Sterling Jewelers, driving himself to and from work everyday in his specialized van.  Despite his "different abilities", David also kayaked, vacationed in Europe, skied in British Columbia, and even tried skydiving in 2005.

Though he had been dealt a life-blow that would devastate most, David exuded a contagious personality and an unselfish attitude that he shared with every individual and organization that he had contact with.  In 2003, David be came passionate about participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and in 2005, as part of the NBC Today Show's Green Room Charity Auction, he was instrumental in starting a campaign that raised more than $250,000 for the Lupus Foundation of American in memory of his former caretaker, Kassie McMullin.  David credited his selfless nature to the accident, always saying he would never trade his "different abilities" to go back to the way he was before the accident.

David passed away suddenly on June 16, 2007 at the age of 39.  He is survived by his parents, James and Carol, sister, Barb, and countless friends.  David's sister, Tracy (at the age of 37) joined him on February 17, 2010.
